Virtual AI Football Tests: How aiScout, Scoutium and Other Platforms Work

The idea that an amateur player in Kenya, Argentina or India could test Chelsea from his cell phone and without stepping on England seemed like science fiction 5 years ago. In 2026, it is a reality.

The virtual tests with artificial intelligence They are transforming the football scouting. Platforms like aiScout allow players from all over the world to record themselves performing specific exercises with a cell phone, receive automated performance analyses, and be evaluated by scouts from professional clubs — all without moving from their city.

Do they really work? What are legitimate? What real chances do you have of being signed through one of these platforms? In this article I give you the full picture.

What are Virtual Testing with AI

A virtual test with AI is a process where a player is recorded with his cell phone performing a series of standardized exercises (speed, agility, ball technique, coordination), and an artificial intelligence software automatically analyzes its performance — measuring reaction times, speed, balance, accuracy, fatigue levels, and other biomechanical indicators.

The data is compared against benchmarks established by professional clubs. If your performance exceeds certain thresholds, the club scouts can access your profile, watch your videos, and decide if you are invited to face-to-face testing.

aiScout (ai.io): the leading platform

100,000+
Players in the global database

135+
Players who received tests or contracts with professional clubs

75
Exercises available on the platform

What is it: aiScout is a free app developed by ai.io (London) that allows amateur players from all over the world to participate in virtual tests for professional clubs. It is the most advanced platform in scouting with AI and the only one with official agreements with top-level clubs.

How it works:

Download the app (free, available worldwide)
Create your profile with personal data, position, and physical attributes
Choose an exercise of the 75 available (the app shows you a video tutorial)
You record yourself doing the exercise with your cell phone
AI analyzes your performance using motion capture technology without markers — measures hundreds of metrics from video
You get an automated score and feedback compared to the club's benchmarks
If your performance stands out, club scouts can view your profile and invite you to face-to-face evaluation.

Partner clubs: Chelsea FC (official 5-year agreement as an academy recruitment partner), Burnley FC, the entire MLS (multi-year agreement), the Federation of Sri Lanka, the Federation of Wales, among others. More than 100 additional clubs in the process of joining.

Technological partners: Intel, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Loughborough University for biomechanical research and computational vision.

Business model: The app is free for players. Clubs pay an annual license to access the analytics platform (from thousands of pounds for small clubs to six digits for top-level clubs).

Actual cases

Ben Greenwood: He had never had a test with a professional club. He downloaded aiScout in 2019, uploaded his videos, and got a test with Chelsea FC — he was the first app user to do it. He ended up signing a professional contract with AFC Bournemouth in 2021.

Andre Odeku: He played in the seventh division of English football. He was discovered through the app and got a test with the Sub-23 team of Burnley FC.

Rebekah: Jersey player (Stain Channel Island) who had never been seen by scouts due to her geographical location. She participated in Chelsea FC Women exercises through the app and was incorporated into Chelsea's female Sub-18 team.

Other relevant platforms

Platform	Target user	Technology	Cost to the player
aiScout	Amateur players from around the world; professional clubs	IA of motion capture without markers from cell video	Free
Scoutium	Minor league players; professional clubs	AI video analysis with focus on emerging league players	Variable
Comparisonator	Scouts and professional clubs	AI for comparison of players with tracking data and advanced statistics	Not a platform for players (B2B)
Scout Advisor (FC + IBM Seville)	Internal use of Seville FC	AI applied to the club's own scouting database and network	Not available for players
Yooscout	Players, clubs, agents, scouts	Professional social network of football with verified profiles and messaging	Free (core functions)
Wyscout / InStat	Scouts, clubs, agents, analysts	Video indexing and professional match data (does not generate new amateur data)	Not a platform for players (B2B)

Key difference: The platforms are divided into two categories. generate new data from amateur players (aiScout, Scoutium) are relevant to players who seek to be discovered. add professional player data (Wyscout, InStat, Comparisonator) are tools for scouts and clubs, not for players looking for opportunities.

Limitations: what AI cannot do

Virtual AI testing is a powerful tool, but it has important limitations that you must understand:

They do not replace face-to-face evaluation. The creators of aiScout themselves say it: AI does not decide careers — it is a source of information that helps humans make better decisions. If you stand out in the app, what follows is a face-to-face test with the club. AI opens the door; you have to cross it.

They do not evaluate tactical intelligence in real context. Exercises are individual or in reduced space. Do not measure how you move without a ball during a game, how you make decisions under pressure from a rival, or how you relate to peers in a tactical system.

They don't measure the mentality. How do you react after an error? Do you compete for 90 minutes? Leads? Do you communicate? These are things that a scout evaluates in person and that AI cannot capture from an exercise video.

The database is huge but the conversion is low. Of the more than 100,000 players in aiScout, 135 received tests or contracts. That’s 0.13%. Chances are better than buying a lottery ticket, but they’re no guarantee of anything. The platform improves your visibility — it doesn’t guarantee results.

How to take advantage of these platforms

Practical strategy

Use aiScout as a complement, not as a unique strategy. Download the app, complete the exercises, improve your scores — but don’t depend exclusively on it. Combine it with a Professional sports CV, a Highlights videoand direct contact with clubs and agents.
Stand up with quality. The AI analyzes your video — if the quality is poor (low light, shaky camera, inappropriate angle), the analysis loses accuracy and your score low. Use tripod, good lighting, and record horizontally.
Repeat the exercises. Your first recording is probably not the best. Practice each exercise several times before uploading your final video.
Keep your profile complete and up-to-date. It's not enough to upload a video and wait. Complete all the information on your profile, update regularly, and stay active on the platform.
Complement with your profile in Soccer CV. The AI platforms evaluate isolated exercises; your professional profile tells the full story: club history, match statistics, video highlights in real context, and contact details. A scout who finds you on aiScout is going to look for more information about you — having a full profile on Futbol CV closes the circuit.

The future of scouting with AI

IA scouting is in its early stages. The alliance between ai.io and Loughborough University (announced 2025) seeks to improve the accuracy of biomechanical analysis from cell video using advanced computational vision techniques. The technology was included in the FIFA Innovation Program in 2022 — a sign that FIFA sees these tools as part of the future of football.

In the coming years we can expect: more accurate analysis from lower quality video, evaluation of tactical decisions using language models, integration of wearable data (GPS, accelerometers) with video data, and expansion to more clubs and federations.

For players, the message is clear: technology is creating new avenues of access to professional football that previously did not exist. If you are in a country or a league without scouts, these platforms can be the difference between being invisible and being seen. But technology is just a tool — your talent, your work, and your professionalism are still what determines if you walk through the door that AI opens.

This guide is based on public information from ai.io/aiScout, CNN, World Football Summit, Lexology, University of Loughborough, and Kingston University. User and placement data correspond to sources published until March 2024. This guidance is informative and does not constitute a recommendation of any specific platform.
