The problem we couldn't ignore
There is a number that has haunted me for a long time: FIFA estimates that there are about 487 million people who practice football in the world. Of those, approximately 40 million are registered in federations. And of that universe, only a tiny fraction comes to professional football.
What surprised me, when I started researching the market, was how many players with real level to compete in semi-professional leagues or middle-level professionals never got to be evaluated. Not for lack of talent. For lack of visibility.
That is the problem that motivated the creation of Football CV.
What I saw up close
Latin American football has a paradox that is difficult to explain if you didn’t live it from within. We have a concentration of talent per inhabitant that has no equivalent in any other region of the world. And at the same time, we have a system of representation and visibility that works with decades of backwardness regarding how the global market operates today.
European scouts looking for players in Argentina, Uruguay or Colombia continue to rely on informal contact networks, recommendations from acquaintances, videos that someone sent them via WhatsApp without context or backup data. That’s not a system. It’s random disguised as a process.
On the other hand, players who want to be found don’t have the right tools. LinkedIn doesn’t work for this either. Instagram is not. The platforms that exist are designed for the European market, they are expensive or they don’t understand the particular dynamics of Latin American talent.
Why we decided to build it
The decision to build FC Football was not impulsive. I spent considerable time understanding whether the problem was real, whether it was big enough to justify a solution, and whether we were in a position to build it.
The answers to the three questions were yes.
The problem is real: there is an information gap between players looking for opportunities and clubs looking for players. The amateur international transfer market grew to more than 59,000 movements in 2024, but the infrastructure connecting supply and demand remains primitive.
It's big enough: Latin America has tens of millions of federal players or with a competitive level.Even if we attend a small fraction of that universe—those who have ambitions to advance their career—we talk about hundreds of thousands of people.
And we are in a position to build it because we understand the Latin American context from within, not from the perspective of someone who tries to import a European model and adapt it.
What we're not, and why it matters to say
We are not a representative agency. We are not a generic directory of athletes. We are not a social network with added sports features.
We are a professional profile platform for Latin American footballers. That means that every product decision—every field we ask you to complete, every data we show, every way we facilitate contact with clubs and scouts—is thought from the perspective of what a player really needs to be evaluated correctly.
The difference between a generic profile and a profile designed for football is the difference between a Word resume and a professional portfolio. One makes you visible; the other makes you evaluable.
The principles guiding each decision
We built FC Football with some very clear principles from the start:
- Verifiability over self-presentation. A profile that anyone can write about themselves has limited value. A profile with verifiable data — match statistics, coach references, club history — has real credibility.
- Simplicity of use. If creating or maintaining a profile requires too much effort, players will not do it. And if players do not, there is no platform. We design so that the process is direct and the result is solid.
- Economic accessibility. An amateur player in Tucumán or Cali cannot pay what a European club pays for a Wyscout subscription. plans are designed for the economic reality of the Latin American footballer.
What's coming
We are at the beginning. Soccer CV exists because we believe that the Latin American football market deserves modern infrastructure, and that players deserve tools that match their talent.
If this resonates with what you're looking for — whether you're a player, coach, scout, or just someone who thinks Latin American talent deserves more visibility— create your profile for free. Being part of this first stage also gives you early visibility and closeness to the evolution of the product.
