10 Sample FIFA Agent Exam Questions with Explained Answers
The FIFA Agent Exam 2026 consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes duration, with a passing score of 75% (15 out of 20 correct). It is an open-book exam, but with only 3 minutes per question, you don’t have time to look up every answer from scratch.
The pass rate in 2025 was 18%. More than 4 out of 5 candidates failed — many despite prior preparation. The difficulty lies in the practical application questions that combine several regulations and require reasoning through a specific case, not in simple theoretical questions.
Below we present 10 real and sample exam questions that reflect the format, difficulty, and topics of the test. Each question includes the options, the correct answer, and a detailed explanation with normative references.
Question 1 — Contract Termination (RETJ)
According to the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, under which of the following circumstances can a contract between a professional player and a club be terminated?
Select one:
A. Upon expiration of the contract term or by mutual agreement
B. If the club faces financial difficulties
C. At any time without conditions
D. Only if the player decides to leave
According to Article 13 of the RETJ, a contract between a professional and a club can only be terminated upon expiration of the contract term or by mutual agreement. Unilateral termination without just cause is expressly discouraged by the regulations and carries consequences. Financial difficulties of the club alone are not grounds for automatic termination.
Question 2 — Representation Contract (RFAF)
Marston is a football agent who signed an exclusive three-year representation agreement with Gavin. Marston will earn 2% of Gavin’s remuneration for each professional contract negotiated, even after the representation agreement expires, and will also receive a penalty if Gavin negotiates a contract on his own. What are the issues with this agreement?
Select one or more:
A. Marston cannot charge Gavin a penalty for self-representation
B. The duration of the representation contract exceeds the maximum allowed term
C. Marston can only charge Gavin fixed fees
D. Marston cannot charge fees for contracts negotiated before the agreement expires
There are two clear issues. First, the contract lasts 3 years, but Article 12, paragraph 3 of the RFAF sets a maximum of 2 years for contracts with players — the excess is null. Second, Article 12, paragraph 13 declares null any clause penalizing the player for negotiating an employment contract without the agent’s mediation. Option C is incorrect (fees are calculated as a percentage, not a fixed amount). Option D is also incorrect: the agent is entitled to fees for contracts negotiated during the agreement’s validity, subject to explicit agreement with the client.
Question 3 — Minor Transfer (RETJ)
According to Article 19 of the RETJ, which of the following is a general principle regarding the international transfer of players under 18 years old?
Select one:
A. International transfers of players under 18 are only allowed if the player is over 15 and registered with a club in the EU or EEA
B. Only allowed if parents consent and the minor is registered with an amateur-only club
C. Can be freely made if the hiring club and the original club agree
D. Not allowed except in very specific circumstances
The general principle of Article 19, paragraph 1 of the RETJ is the prohibition of international transfers of players under 18. Exceptions are exhaustive and very specific (parents relocating for non-football reasons, relocation within the EU/EEA with minimum club obligations, border distance of 50 km, school exchange programs with strict conditions, among others). Parental consent alone is insufficient — one of the exceptions in paragraph 2 must be met.
Question 4 — Article 18bis: Sell-on Fees (RETJ)
Club B is signing a player from Club A. In the transfer agreement, Club A includes a 40% sell-on fee, except if Club B transfers the player to a club participating in the same national competition as Club A, in which case the fee would be 60%. Which of the following statements are correct?
Select one or more:
A. The clause violates Article 18bis of the RETJ, as Club A is trying to limit Club B’s independence in transfer matters
B. The clause violates Article 18bis because sell-on fees are never allowed
C. Generally, sell-on fees are permitted under the RETJ
D. The clause does not violate Article 18bis because sell-on fees are allowed in all cases
Sell-on fees are generally permitted by the RETJ (option C is correct). However, in this case the clause establishes a differentiated fee (40% vs 60%) depending on the player’s destination, which seeks to influence Club B’s decision on whom to sell to — this violates Article 18bis which prohibits a club or third party from influencing another club’s transfer policies (option A correct). Option B is incorrect (sell-on fees are allowed). Option D is incorrect (they are not allowed "in all cases" without restriction — it depends on the wording).
Question 5 — Clearing House: Late Payment
Club A has been issued a payment notice for 10,000 EUR but has not made any payment to the FIFA Clearing House within 30 days. How much must Club A pay?
Select one:
A. 10,500 euros
B. 10,000 euros
C. 12,000 euros
D. 10,250 euros
According to the FIFA Clearing House Regulations, when a club fails to pay within 30 days, a 2.5% administrative fee is applied in favor of the training clubs and an additional 7 days are granted. Calculation: 10,000 + (2.5% × 10,000) = 10,000 + 250 = 10,250 EUR. This type of numerical question is typical of the exam — if you don’t know the exact percentage of the fee, you cannot solve it.
Question 6 — Brazilian Minor: International Transfer (RETJ)
Alexandre is a 17-year-old Brazilian player registered as a professional with FC Carnaval in Brazil. The Spanish club Hola AC wants to sign him before the registration deadline. Can Alexandre be transferred? Must he be accompanied by his parents?
Select one:
A. He can be transferred immediately if the Spanish club provides adequate education and training
B. As a general rule, he must wait until he turns 18. His parents’ relocation would be football-related and thus not justify any exception
C. He can be transferred immediately, with or without his parents, because he has professional status
D. He can be transferred immediately as long as his parents accompany him
Alexandre is 17 — under 18 and subject to the general prohibition of Article 19 of the RETJ. The exception in paragraph 2 a) (parents move for non-football reasons) does not apply because the parents’ relocation would clearly be football-related. The exception in paragraph 2 b) (relocation within the EU/EEA) also does not apply because Brazil is not an EU/EEA member. Professional status does not exempt from the minor transfer rule. He must wait until he turns 18 (January 2025).
Question 7 — Obligation to Report Match Manipulation
An agent has indirect knowledge that several players have been betting and may have fixed the result of a third division match. If the agent does not immediately report this conduct, which of the following sanctions could be imposed?
Select one or more:
A. Agents are exempt from reporting FIFA rules violations
B. Cannot be sanctioned because knowledge was indirect
C. A minimum fine of 15,000 CHF
D. At least two years’ ban from football-related activities
Football agents are not exempt from the obligation to report — quite the opposite. According to Article 20, paragraph 3 of the Disciplinary Code and Article 16 of the RFAF, persons subject to the code must cooperate fully and immediately report any contact or information related to match manipulation. Indirect knowledge does not exempt from the obligation. Sanctions include a minimum fine of 15,000 CHF and at least a 2-year ban from football-related activities.
Question 8 — Agency Employees Without License (RFAF)
Which of the following statements are correct regarding employees of an agency who do not hold a license?
Select one or more:
A. No employee or contractor of an agency who is not a licensed football agent may contact a potential client to sign a representation contract
B. No employee or contractor of an agency who is not a football agent may provide representation services
C. All options are correct
D. Only football agents may provide representation services
According to Article 11 of the RFAF: only licensed agents may provide representation services (option D); unlicensed employees cannot provide representation services (option B); and cannot contact potential clients to sign representation contracts (option A). Unlicensed employees may only perform administrative tasks (secretarial work, meeting logistics, practical transfer matters). Since the first three options are correct, the answer is C.
Question 9 — Prescription of Offenses (Disciplinary Code)
Which of the following offenses are NOT subject to procedural prescription?
Select one:
A. All forms of sexual abuse
B. Bribery and corruption
C. Discrimination and defamation
D. Document forgery
According to the FIFA Disciplinary Code, all forms of sexual abuse are exempt from procedural prescription — meaning they can be prosecuted without time limits. Other offenses (bribery, discrimination, forgery) have prescription periods, though these vary depending on severity. This question requires knowledge of specific exceptions in the Disciplinary Code.
Question 10 — Objectives of the RFAF
What are the main objectives set out in the FIFA Regulations on Football Agents?
Select one or more:
A. Provide legal advice to clubs and players
B. Ensure the regularity of sporting competitions
C. Help players develop their professional careers
D. Protect minors
According to Article 1 of the RFAF, the main objectives include ensuring the regularity of competitions and protecting minors. The RFAF does not aim to provide legal advice (that is the role of lawyers, not the regulation). Nor is helping players develop their careers an explicit objective — this may be an indirect effect of regulation but is not a stated goal. This question seems easy, but many candidates fail it by not reading Article 1 carefully.
